St. Baldrick's is the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Thousands of volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children with cancer, while requesting donations of support from friends and family.

At a St. Baldrick's event, something amazing happens. People who normally shy away from the very thought of childhood cancer find themselves compelled to support this cause after looking into the face of these brave children who are smiling broadly as their friends and family members proudly display their newly shorn heads.

Volunteers and donors see it can be fun to support a serious cause. Young cancer patients and survivors see how many people care. And researchers see St. Baldrick's funds helping to find cures!

The New York State Labor-Religion Coalition

The New York State Labor-Religion Coalition:

AFFIRMS each person’s God-given dignity and each person’s right to a fair share in their labor’s productivity;

WELCOMES the participation of all persons and organizations, especially religious and labor communities, in promoting economic and social justice;

BELIEVES ethical principles and faith must be linked with action;

CELEBRATES religious and labor heroes and martyrs who challenge abuses of power and sacrifice for the common good;

RECOGNIZES that economic activities which diminish human value or the environment are immoral.

The Coalition Seeks To Achieve This Vision By:

EDUCATING about human rights/responsibilities and the essential contributions of labor and religion to the building of community;

ADVOCATING for change in practices and policies that contribute to a life of poverty for millions of adults and children;

INCLUDING music and art in religious-labor conferences, gatherings, and struggles;

PROMOTING socially responsible businesses;

ORGANIZING campaigns and projects that offer individuals and organizations concrete ways to act with and for those exploited by harmful economic priorities;

BUILDING solidarity with workers—in the US and globally—who are acting to achieve justice in the workplace;

LINKING statewide and local initiatives;

JOINING with other groups and organizations to address issues such as corporate accountability and the income/wealth gap.
